In November 2011, on a whim, I drove my car all the way down US Highway 1, just to see what was there. I knew, intellectually, where it went, but that is no substitution for seeing the real thing. I took many pictures. Here are a few. Click the images to get a further description.

Favorite Movie Quotes

  1. Most people don't take snapshots of the little things. The used Band-Aid, the guy at the gas station, the wasp on the Jell-O. But these are the things that make up the true picture of our lives. People don't take pictures of these things.

Sy Parrish (played by Robin Williams), One Hour Photo

  2. Now, before I begin the lesson, will those of you who are playing in the match this afternoon move your clothes down onto the lower peg immediately after lunch, before you write your letter home, if you're not getting your hair cut, unless you've got a younger brother who is going out this weekend as the guest of another boy, in which case, collect his note before lunch, put it in your letter after you've had your hair cut, and make sure he moves your clothes down onto the lower peg for you.... ...If you're not getting your hair cut, you don't have to move your brother's clothes down to the lower peg. You simply collect his note before lunch, after you've done your scripture prep, when you've written your letter home, before rest, move your own clothes onto the lower peg, greet the visitors, and report to Mr. Viney that you've had your chit signed.

Mr. Humphrey (played by John Cleese), The Meaning of Life

  3. And he piled upon the whale's white hump, the sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it.

Captain Picard (played by Patrick Stewart), quoting Moby Dick, Star Trek: First Contact

  4. That means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.

Peter Gibbons (played by Ron Livingston), Office Space

  5. Oh sir! You forgot your map! And our millions of dollars!

Grimm (played by Bill Murray), Quick Change
